After the Diamondbacks had their fairytale World Series run fall short in Game 5, manager Torey Lovullo explained during the postgame press conference that all he wanted to do was crawl up in bed and eat ice cream.
Unfortunately, Lovullo’s wish did actually come true, but in a more literal way, as he was forced into bed for the next five days due to COVID.
Lovullo explained on AZSports 98.7 that just one day after the Diamondbacks were eliminated, he was diagnosed with COVID-19, which led to him being stuck in bed for almost a week.
On the bright side, shortly following his return, Lovullo was extended by the Diamondbacks for another year; he is now locked in Arizona until at least 2026.
Lovullo has been with the Diamondbacks since 2017, and during this time he has transformed them from a 110-loss team to a World Series-contesting team.
